I love going out to eat in Montreal and am always excited to have a different experience wherever I go. While a nice meal is always a treat, my recent tea time at Le Parloir was something special. Tea time can be an incredibly posh and high society affair at certain places in town, however, Le Parloir has a cozy welcoming atmosphere which immediately made me feel comfortable. The details in the décor and service are charming, starting with the basket of tea samples brought to the table to smell.
Once I selected a tea, it was brought to the table in a Chinese teapot with a delicate vintage teacup and an hourglass to ensure correct steeping time. Since I did not reserve, the high tea service which comes with a tiered stand filled with a variety of sweet and savoury snacks was not available. However, my summer gazpacho and scone were a hit, as well as the chai tea I chose.
Uniquely enough, Le Parloir is also a BYOB establishment, which adds a festive atmosphere to traditional teatime. Located near Parc Lafontaine, this is a perfect stop before or after a walk through the park.
