Many reasons for you to visit Bar de Courcelle and few excuses to not open its door: it’s open each day of the week, meaning you don’t need to plan your visit it in advance, you just go, even for a quick tour. But the basics are there: beer, music, even a place outside for the summer when you are lucky it’s summer time in Montreal.
There is a stage – the jam sessions on Sunday evening are always interesting, and therefore there is often live music or a DJ, you may check its event calendar. More than a stage there is also a vinyl flew market happening on Sunday, not on a regular basis but the event is usually fun if you like digging in vinyl boxes on a Sunday.
I didn’t know the bar de Courcelle in its previous life. It has an old history in St-Henri as one of the local bars with its regulars. Eventually a new generation took over, kept the way it used to look and performed a tiny re-design. Maybe it’s a detail, but while modernising this joint, the walls haven’t been covered with numerous TV screen everywhere. So the crowd changed, I’ve heard, but the crowd remained. There is life in this place!
