One place in Montreal for decadent desserts is Patrice Pâtissier, a shop in Little Burgundy near Lionel Groulx metro. Don’t be fooled by the modest exterior; this resto/cafe has some really rich-tasting desserts. When you enter, it’s a little intimidating for the budget-conscious at first, but a variety of price points makes it affordable for almost anyone.
I like that Patrice Pâtissier was started by a local pastry chef, Patrice Demers, who works with local business to create desserts with original ingredients. The combinations are unique and mouth-watering. I tried a black sesame and honey cake with lemon curd that left me wanting more. There’s an open kitchen concept and Patrice himself is often there which is cool, and you’re able to see the staff hard at work on their culinary creations. There’s also an adjacent room where Patrice teaches cooking classes and there are wine tastings twice a week.
