When I was back from my trip to Athens after the epic Spotters Weekend, I found myself looking for Greek food in Moscow. The first thing that comes to one’s mind when thinking of it is gyros. I knew there was a place in Moscow where they served it, but before my vacation I had no chance to try it for it’s located quite far away from the area which I usually visit.
Later, we learned that another spot with the same name, also by chef Nikos Gribas, opened in the Tagansky district. That neighborhood is closer to the places I’m used to visit, and I decided to give it a try and to learn if it’s authentic or not.
Now “Grill&Gyros” is one of my favorite spots! It’s in the format of bistro, with tall tables with seats, pictures of Greece on the walls, Greek radio station playing, and warm attitude. Gyros there is worth a try. Some kinds of it are more like chef’s specials, for example with sweet potato, or hummus, the classic and the “Black” gyros in black pita are my favourites, and taste authentic.
Besides gyros, there are more delicious options in the menu, like sandwiches, salads, etc. They have vegetarian gyros as well. I strongly recommend trying fried sweet potato instead of standard fries. It’s really yummy, and has a ton of nutrients. I recommend “Grill&Gyros” for those craving for Greek street food, and for having a snack on-the-go during a busy day.
