Syrovarnya (for “Cheese dairy”) is an all-cheese restaurant by Novikov group, located in now-hipster abandoned Badaevsky brewery, just 10-minutes walking from the famous Ukraina hotel.
As a home cheesemaker myself, I am always striving to bite into every single new cheese by local cheese factories.
Syrovarnya restaurant has their own cheesemaking facility on site, where they make soft Italian cheeses: Mozzarella, Stracciatella, Cacciotta, Ricotta, with their Burrata recognized as the best in the city. A beautiful solution, as these types of cheeses are best enjoyed within 20 minutes after production.
The meals here are mostly based on (or accompanied with) cheese, and the cuisine is very simple and country-style. Their oven-baked Camambert cheese is perfect. The salad with burrata and tomatoes is pretty good as well. Once we tried their pizza, and it was really awesome. Apart from the cheese, I liked the pike cutlets and the juicy grilled surmullet.
There is also a small shop at the entrance, where you can buy their freshly made cheeses.
In the summer time they open a big terrace to sit outside. The entrance to the restaurant and Badaevsky place is from the Tarasa Shevchenko embankment.
