The Rink in Gorky Park Moscow

The Rink in Gorky Park – The largest in Europe

The rink in Gorky Park is, probably, the best rink I’ve ever been to. It is not a simple ice square, where all people must skate in a circle. The area of this rink is 18,000 m2. Nowadays it is the biggest rink in all of Europe. The ice is everywhere! All paths and roads are iced. It seems like you’re just walking in a park, but wearing skates instead of shoes.

You slide along the alleys of the park, enjoying the fresh air and trees… If you are cold and you want to drink some tea or coffee, you can do it without taking your skates off. Different cozy cafes are available on the “ice territory”. You may enter there in your skates.

In case you are a professional and ice paths are not for you, you can use the dancing rink or hockey arena.

If you don’t have your own skates, you can hire them. It won’t cost you anything extra: one pair of skates can be taken for one ticket. But you’ll have to leave 1500 rubles (about 50 dollars) as a security deposit. Changing rooms and lockers are also available there.

Another pleasant thing about this rink is not having to worry about the weather. It is an artificial ice rink; if it gets too warm, the automatic refrigerating machines will be turned on. So, it means that you can enjoy sliding up to mid-March!
