Actually the area around Viktualienmarkt is not my most favorite one due to the high prices which don’t always correspond to awesome quality, but there are a few places that I really like, for example Fisch Witte (check the Fisch Witte article). Additionally in summer you have to fight with the hordes of tourists, which for a cold Munich local like me is not the preferred way to spend my day.
The Joke aside, the area around Viktualienmarkt has a few hidden gems, one of which is the Chocolate and More Confiserie. I have to be honest that this tip is not entirely mine and it was my girlfriend who first showed me the place on a cold November day. But I have already asked her and she’s agreed to share it with you guys ;).
Basically it is a small cute shop that offers all kinds of hand-made sweet stuff. You can have a coffee and sit on the small tables inside (2 tables) or outside (1 table). The owner is a very nice guy and he will almost always give you some stuff to try. My personal favorite is the hand-made Nougat with fruits and nuts. There are varying combinations, so just go there and have a try. And walk around Westendstraße – it is a nice, hidden street close to the center.
