There is a vivid craft beer scene in Munich but things are a bit different from other cities. Munich is a mecca of beer anyway and most people drink Augustiner or Tegernseer beer, both regional and small breweries compared to the big ones. Other famous Munich breweries have been sold to the big international holdings and trendy people don’t buy them anymore. So there is already a strong support for the Davids in the market and now we have a few even smaller Davids.
One of them is Tilman Ludwig with his “Tilmans Biere”, and he recently opened up a bar called “fresh beers” where he serves not only his own products but also craft beer from colleagues, freshly poured from 14 taps. The choices are written on the huge blackboard and if a barrel is empty, it is wiped off. So be prepared to always find a new list even after you’ve only turned your head for a bit while chatting with your neighbour.
It’s hard to mention the food in such an overwhelming gravity field of liquid. But I will, because the food is so surprisingly good and well priced, that I always go there for both food and beer.
