If you are into baking and love making your own dough for bread or pizza, you will need flour. Every supermarket has it, but every supermarket has the same and you don’t want the same bread every day, do you?
So the more you dive into baking, the more you will meet recipes with very specific flour. And where do you get all those fancy numbered flours? The best place would be a mill, but who has a mill in his city? Well, Munich still has one. It is a very old one in the old city center, in the same building like the Hofbräuhaus and that’s why it is called “Hofbräuhaus Kunstmühle”.
You may think this is a place for eccentric metropolitans with their permanent need for authenticity, but then you’d be wrong. They grind 35 tons of grain every day and the very moment you pay your little package of flour type 00 for your pizza a cab will arrive with an Italian-speaking guy taking away 60 kg of the very same flour for his pizzeria. That happened to me the last time I was there, at least.
