The Oktoberfest remains closed 96% of the year. But you can always enjoy the typical combination of half a chicken and a “Mass“ of beer here, 100 meters away from the Theresienwiese. The advantage of eating half a chicken in a “Hühnerbraterei” (chicken grill) is that the chicken is fresh and very good and that’s why the locals like me come here.

But the Lindwurmstüberl is not only close to the Oktoberfest in terms of distance and food but also in terms of character: it has the same level of noise, being situated on the crossing of two big streets; it has a garden to sit at and enjoy the food and the noise, only it is on a rooftop and not on a step outside a tent, and its architecture is typical for being constructed quickly and on the ground level only, like they did after the war, so the walls around you feel exactly as thin and temporary as the typical beer tents in the Oktoberfest.
