Sushi and Meat (or short SAM) used to be a pop-up restaurant in the heart of Munich’s Westend. When it closed down, I was devastated because I really wanted to try it but didn’t make it there in time. Fortunately it opened up again after some renovations as a permanent restaurant. Still, SAM looks somewhat like a popup restaurant, as the interior is rather makeshift and temporary but with that offers a lot of charm: Asian newspapers function as wallpapers and long tables with lots of seats made from crates invite the guests to get together.
As the name more or less gives away, you can get Asian food at SAM: they serve Superfood bowls, Asian tapas, ramen and of course sushi. As I personally don’t like to eat fish I cannot judge on the sushi, but the rice bowls and the ramen are to die for. I usually go there in the evening and sit at one of the window nooks or at the long table with a friend and enjoy a drink with my food: SAM offers a variety of Japanese whiskeys, gins and vodkas you shouldn’t miss! Kanpai!
