Of all the burger restaurants in NYC, what makes this one so special?
Step behind the curtain and find out.
Burger Joint is a graffiti-covered greasy spoon, tucked behind a velvet curtain in the lobby of the swanky Le Parker Meridien Hotel. You’ll know you’ve found the spot when you see the sign of a neon burger hanging overhead in the darkness. Well, that and the smell of freshly cooked burgers wafting around the corner.
Aside from the speakeasy-style hidden entrance, Burger Joint is known for its excellent burgers. I like the cheeseburger with the “works” which includes pickles, tomato, lettuce, onion, ketchup and mustard. Double-hamburgers are available for the extra-hungry, and plant-based burgers are available for vegetarians. They also serve sweet potato fries in addition to regular fries.
Seating is casual, and first-come-first-serve. I recommend nominating one of your party to stake out a seat while the others wait in line to order.
Burger Joint is exceptional in its casualness, a welcome contrast to the grand hotels and expensive eateries of the Central Park South area. Bring a date, and you are sure to gain points for delivering the unexpected.
