All donuts are not created equal. That’s a manifesto I’ve lived by for many years, whether I’ve found myself in Seattle munching on hand-forged Top Pot treats or in Greenpoint scarfing down Peter Pan delights. The last couple of years my attention has turned to a tiny little bakery in Bed-Stuy cranking out big flavors. These donuts aren’t cheap (yup, around $ 3 each), but when they come out of the oven this tasty, I don’t mind throwing down the extra bucks.
Not every Dough flavor is up my alley, but if you put one of their lemon poppy seed or blood orange masterpieces in front of me every morning, I would gladly partake – and probably gain an extra 50 pounds. But it would be worth it, because these flavors are perfectly moist and come dripping with zesty frosting that puts them in a league of their own.
Now these Brooklyn beauties have been taking city by storm. They’re showing up all over the city at coffee shops and in three Dough shops in Manhattan.
