I first discovered this patch of street art while taking a shortcut on my way to the grocery store – and what a great shortcut it was.
First Street Garden is a space that hosts various artists and invites them to transform the small park into an open art gallery. If you happen to come when an artist is working, stay an extra while. It’s pretty incredible to watch them transform a clean white slate into a mural bursting with life. There is no set theme and each artist brings his or her own talents, but somehow their different styles coexist harmoniously, like in a carefully curated exhibition.
There are a few benches planted throughout, offering a place to recharge in this makeshift museum. The vibrant art offers an uplifting pop of color against the concrete grey backdrop of the city.
The murals seem to change every few weeks so be sure to check back every once in a while!
