With its creaking wooden décor, deep earthy smell and abundance of apothecary jars, Flower Power has an aura more reminiscent of a witch’s den than a New York store. However, the friendliness of the staff transforms the space into a cozy, warm, and spiritually accepting witch’s den.
Flower Power celebrates the magical healing powers of plants and is a heaven for herbal enthusiasts. Whether you’re looking for the remedy to an ailment or simply a cup of invigorating tea, this is the place for you.
The walls are lined from floor to ceiling with jars of aromatic herbs – everything from Rosemary to Milk Thistle to Jamaican Dogwood Bark.
Aside from these wild crafted herbs, Flower Power also sells essential oils, flower essences, bath salts, incenses and many other products the hippie within you desires. I have bought rosemary tea and ‘energizing’ bath salts, which have both become part of my regular health/beauty routine.
Flower Power is great because it’s very hands-on: you can open any jar or bottle you like to smell the product before you buy it. One of my favorite smells is the essential oil of jasmine. Just one sniff and I’m off to flower heaven.
Be sure to check the store’s website as they occasionally host workshops related to healing through herbs and flowers.
