In a city known for its pizza, Lions, Tigers, and Squares is a welcome change in the vast pizza-verse of New York City. These morsels of savory delight are a far cry from what you expect for NYC-style pizza. Rather than the thin-crusted, triangular slices you’ll find everywhere else, the pizza here is quite the opposite; thick, doughy, and, well, square.
The second you walk past Lions, Tigers, and Squares, you will smell the delectable aroma of amazing pizza and hear the sultry Motown tunes they play oozing through the door. I pass this place quite often on the way back from the gym, and the smell has drawn me in to gain back the calories lost far too often. And for you night owls, Lions, Tigers and Squares is open until 4am on weekdays and 5am on weekends. The place is pretty small, but the pizza here is far from it- no slices here, just pies. So come hungry, bring friends, or plan for leftovers. It’s so good though, you’ll probably eat the whole pie anyways.
