Two of my favorite things are beer and cheese. So when I discovered Milk and Hops in New York City, I felt like I had ascended to Heaven. At Milk and Hops you will find an extensive variety of cheeses from all over the world, and all of the yummy things you’d normally eat with cheese; crackers, meats, sweets, and other snacks.
The only thing more extensive than the cheese selection is the beer menu. Milk and Hops has a rotating set of beers on tap from small craft breweries, many of them local. You can bring some home with you in a growler or enjoy it there along with a menu of goodies, with many dishes featuring the cheeses of Milk and Hops. There are also refrigerators stocked with bottled beers, many of which are rare and from breweries I had never heard of until I saw it at Milk and Hops.
There are two locations in Manhattan, one in Chelsea- which is the one I frequent!-and one in the Upper East Side. The Upper East Side Milk and Hops location features a ramen bar- cheesy ramen anyone? Or you can head to one of their two Astoria, Queens outposts. It’s an ideal spot to try some new cheeses and beers, or to grab some snacks to picnic with in one of NYC’s many public green spaces.
