Last summer I spent two wonderful months in Greece and only after a few weeks back in New York, I started craving Greek food. I’m sure you can imagine my sheer delight when a friend told me that a Greek bakery had opened up in Soho while I was away.
Handmade dolmas, feta salads, chocolateĀ baklava – Pi Bakerie has everything I had been dreaming about!
The highlight is the Greek yogurt (the real kind: milky, thick, and delicious) that comes in various flavors: plain with the option of adding honey, granola, and berries or one that’s already mixed with baklava and fruit.
If you’re as big of a sweet tooth as I am, be sure to try the bougatsa. It’s a custardy cream enveloped in heavenly slivers of phyllo dough topped with cinnamon and powdered sugar. Pure bliss in a bite.
The staff is Greek (hospitable and friendly), making the dining experience all the more enjoyable. This is a wonderful place to grab a bite to eat with a friend or to get some work done while fueling yourself with delicious brain food.
