With its light wooden floors, neatly organized shelves and seemingly coordinated pops of color, Purl Soho looks like something straight off of a Pinterest page.
Being in here is like being a kid in a toy store. Or a kitten in a box of yarn. Whatever metamorphosis happens, my inner child comes out whenever I’m in this store. Purl is a yarn shop, fabric shop and sewing shop all rolled into one.
The shelves of yarn waiting to be knitted into a sweater, the rows of beautiful printed fabrics decorating the walls – every part of the store is a DIY project waiting to happen.
It might seem a bit odd to get so giddily excited about random ribbon and scraps of cloth, but fellow arts and crafts lovers I know you will understand and rejoice along with me.
If you’re overwhelmed by the beauty or are not sure what project you want to tackle, there is a great selection of books on all sorts of arts and crafts. If you don’t even know where to begin, feel free to ask one of the shopkeepers for advice, they’re all friendly and willing to help! Purl Soho also offers classes — you can find more information on their website.
