There is no shortage of amazing Italian cuisine in New York City, but Sergimmo Salumeria is extra special. It’s more a small market than a sit-down, tablecloth establishment, but what it lacks in frills it makes up for in delicious eats. There are tons of options on the menu, from hot Italian-American favorites like baked ziti, to the best paninis on this side of the Atlantic. The food is simple, but the secret is in the insanely high-quality ingredients they use. If simply savoring a meal from there isn’t enough, you can bring home the same ingredients to enjoy at home; the market has everything from the cheeses and meats used in their sandwiches, to straight-from-Italy pastas and sauces.
They also have catering options — cheese plate, anyone? There are locations in Midtown West and Greenwich Village in Manhattan, plus Whitestone in the Bronx. My personal favorite is the Greenwich Village location; its proximity to Washington Square Park makes it the perfect place to grab picnic supplies.
