The Chelsea neighborhood of New York City is renowned worldwide for its amazing art museums and galleries, which is one of the many reasons why I love calling it home. But with all of this amazing culture, us locals need a place to eat, drink, and be merry. The Drunken Horse, a local wine bar and eatery, is the perfect place to do that.
The Drunken Horse’s wine list is the real star, featuring vintages from all over the world, but non-wine drinkers have an excellent assortment of beers and a thoughtful array of cocktails to choose from here too. The food menu has a great mix of shareable plates likes falafel and hummus and cheese and charcuterie; even entrees, like the chorizo flatbread, are designed to be shared here. My personal favorite is the chicken shish kebab.
The real winner here though is the happy hour, with drink and appetizer specials. And keeping in the Chelsea spirit, the walls of are lined with art by local artists available for purchase. The Drunken Horse is small, but it’s homey, and every time you eat and drink here you’ll feel like a local, whether you live down the block of halfway around the world!
