Ekte Vare is one of my neighbourhood shops and is an organic grocery shop focusing on quality, sustainability, and organic food. They offer local produce according to the season, food from small-scale producers in Oslo, and food that packaged as little as possible and sold by weight so you can bring your reusable container to fill.
Among customers, the shop is known for its good quality food, pleasant atmosphere and service-minded staff who are always ready to help you.
The shop also has a small café with a few tables, where they offer sandwiches, cakes and sometimes raw sweets, cold drinks, tea and coffee (only regular coffee). From the window, you have a view of the impressive Sagene church. Also, they arrange courses and events, inviting skilled professionals within sustainable food production.
I love their selection of spices, to discover new products that I had never heard of before, and to relax in the café with a cup of coffee and a sourdough cinnamon bun during weekends.
