I love ice cream. And sea views. When I want my fix of both, I head down to Sørenga, a redeveloped area near the Opera House. It used to be the port, but in recent years it has been made into a thriving new area with housing, restaurants and a city “beach”. It is very popular on sunny days all year around, but especially in the summer.
Paradis serves Italian gelato made from the best ingredients. I love anything with chocolate, and this place has lots to choose from. My personal favourite is gianduja, chocolate with hazelnuts, but there are lots of different flavours of ice cream and sorbet to choose from. Take your pick, and find a scenic spot to enjoy it.
To get to Sørenga, head down to the Opera House and walk around to the back of it. Follow the floating bridge out to Sørenga. Paradis is located near the tip, and if you keep walking after you get your ice cream you’ll get to the “beach” where you can take a swim or just relax and enjoy the views of the fjord.
If you happen to be at Tjuvholmen instead, they have a branch of Paradis there as well, and there are plenty of nice spots with sea views here too.
