Smalhans is a proper neighborhood eatery situated in the St. Hanshaugen area. You really get the feeling of a warm, friendly, cosy, hip environment with tasty and filling homemade food. They serve lunch from 11:00, have a special set dish between 16:00 and 18:00 at excellent prices and serve their dinner menu from 18:00. You can pretty much eat there any time of the day or evening. A relatively small menu means good food that’s prepared with thought and quality ingredients.
In 2016, Smalhans received the Bib Gourmand ranking in the Michelin Nordic guide which is rewarded to those spots that serve carefully prepared meals of great quality and at an affordable reasonable price.
The waiters and waitresses are all extremely knowledgable about the wine and drinks menu and are more than adept enough to give great suggestions based on your taste and the food you’re taking.
I had the best lamb stew I’ve ever tasted here – so delicious! Smalhans is a top local eatery and well worth the trip there if you’re not in the area.
