I pass this place on my way to work every day, and on sunny summer days the tables outside are always full of people. It makes me feel like I am in Italy, or some other country where the climate allows eating outside all day long.
Vespa & Humla serves a really nice breakfast, where you can choose from a variety of items from a menu and put together your own spread. This is called “frokost på en fjøl”, and you can choose things like a croissant with cheese and ham, smoked salmon, avocado with pistachio and chili, fruit, chia pudding and many other Norwegian and international foods. The sun shines on the tables outside in the morning, so it is a perfect place to pretend you are on a mini escape to a sunny country.
For lunch, I can highly recommend having a pizza, with a beer from their own micro brewery. Grünerløkka Brygghus (which also has a bar in Thorvald Meyers gate nearby) has a variety of delicious brews, my favourite at the moment is their sour beer Bringebææærlinerweisse. It’s pink, tasty and very refreshing. If pizza is not your favourite, they also have pasta, salads and some snacks.
