I discovered La Bellevilloise this weekend when I attended a forum on erotic literature where bookshop La Musardine held a stand. You can read more about that spot in the article I wrote about La Musardine.
The place is a cultural centre with a bar and a restaurant. They have a fantastic variety of activities that range from concerts and live music to events, talk shows, clubbing and many others. There are several spaces with separate entrances: “Le Club” which opens on the weekends and can host all kinds of clubbing sessions, “Le Forum” where exhibitions and events take place and is open Friday and Saturday evenings, and the “Halle aux Oliviers” which is actually a nice olive tree decorated patio restaurant which offers a very nice brunch on Sundays.
The place started in the late 19th century as a community center that helped with solidarity initiatives in a form of cooperative of consumers and workers. After several historical changes, it became again a cultural centre in 2006.
