We all like the idea of knowing a place that no one knows or that’s a bit hidden from the crowd or the main streets. The owners of the ‘Lavomatic’ understood this well.
Literally 1 minute walking from the giant ‘Place de la République’, you’ll find on this street a sign with ‘Lavomatic’ written on it. In French, it’s the name of the place where you can go and wash your clothes yourself in self-service washing machines. Except that, in this one, there are only two or three. They are real, I think — I’ve never tried them, but they look real. Once inside, if you go through the back door and walk up the stairs, you’ll arrive in what appears to be a small flat turned into a cool cocktail bar.
Depending on when you arrive, it can be crowded and full but if you arrive early, you’ll get to see a really nice and cosy little flat-bar. The bar itself is super tiny, but the bartenders seem to be at ease to do their magic.
There are tiny seats and wooden tables and benches, two swing-seats and even a little part used as a smoking area. If you are craving for tasty and healthy cocktails in a different atmosphere than a big brasserie, try this one for a change.
