Here is Le Sésame on my list of simple places in Paris where you feel comfy, the food is nice & you can spend a good time.
I had decided to take a friend there for dinner after a long and cold day of work. We needed a place that was easily accessible via metro, close to both of us, where we’d be able to talk and hear each other. After meeting each other at the ‘République’ metro station and walking about ten minutes away from the busy square, we ended up there, in front of the Canal Saint-Martin, and entered this bar.
Cold and both sick, we started to have two grogs (rum, lemon, honey, if I remember well). Cheap, good and warm! Exactly what we needed! After this we started feeling a bit hungry. The waiter convinced us to try their dishes, which turned out to be simple but good. I had some lasagna and my friend had a pie of the day, both with salads and cherry tomatoes. We spent our evening catching up, drinking our grogs until realizing it had started to snow outside. It felt very cozy being there with a view of the water touched by snowflakes.
Later on, they had a live band playing some jazz music, which added to the already warm atmosphere. After our last grog and a dessert, we left super happy of our evening spent there, cheered up for the rest of the week and merry on our way home.
