I absolutely LOVE Ants Pants. Besides the name that is way too fun to say, Ants Pants combines two of my favorite things: breakfast food and an interestingly non-American vibe and menu. Sure, you’ve got pancakes and french toast and everything you can expect at a diner, but everything has an Australian touch. Granted, I’ve never been to Australia, but that’s this cafe’s appeal for me – everything is comfortingly familiar, with a twist.
Ants Pants has a fully stocked cafe in the front with cookies and espresso drinks, for those ducking in for a quick stop. In the back you’ll find a small restaurant and back patio for breakfast and lunch. My personal favorite snack from their pastry window is this half cookie half brownie hybrid jawn… soooo good. (Psst- jawn is Philly speak for “thing”!) The only thing I would change about Ants Pants is the hours… this spot stays true to the breakfast and lunch only philosophy, so if you want a snack after four, you’re out of luck.
My advice? Get here early for weekend brunch, or expect a wait. I prefer going during the week to skip the rush. Also, get the Stack – basically an open faced breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon, cheese and greens. Pictured above. It’s the best thing you’ll put in your mouth all week.
Ants Pants is cash only.
