Mexico is one of my favorite places to visit for many reasons but I would have to say the number one reason is for the Mexican street food. The aroma of the meat sizzling on the grill while you have to elbow your way in to place your order or for the fresh ingredients to top your taco with. It was also where I learned how much better tacos are after you squeeze a fresh lime wedge over it. Dos Tacos is the only place in the United States I have been able to find anything that mostly resembles this experience.
Dos Tacos is owned by a new and up and coming chef Sylva Senat. His intent was to open a food truck but found a small corner store that fit him and the neighborhood perfectly. With more and more restaurants opening in Philly, Dos Tacos stands out from the rest because he is the only gourmet late night spot catering to the after bar crowd.
Each order comes with two tacos (dos). There is said to be a secret menu for the more adventurous eater but I have yet to see anyone order from it. The flavors are fresh, the portions are large, and everything is made from scratch daily, even the tortillas.
