The first time I saw the sign for FARMiCiA, I thought I might be entering a pharmacy. Once I got inside and checked out the menu, I finally understood that FARM is the part to focus on when understanding this fine restaurant. They have an extensive list of offerings using, as their name points out, farm-fresh ingredients. Those with gluten-free or vegetarian diets will be impressed with the large number of choices.
My favorite meal is always brunch, so if you happen to be at FARMiCiA on the weekend, check out the Carmel Apple Walnut French toast. If you are more of a savory eater, try the Turkey and Avocado club. My wife and I have stopped by for coffee and dessert just to get a taste of the sweets from the outstanding Philly-based metropolitan bakery.
The restaurant has a comfortable bohemian vibe to it, with tall booth seating that subtlety sets you off from the bar area and gives your gathering a more intimate feel. The restaurant is located right in the heart of Old City, surrounded by all the historic sites that Philadelphia has to offer. The Landmark Ritz movie theaters are only two blocks away and if you walk east about three blocks you will arrive at Penn’s Landing on the Delaware river. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you really cannot go wrong at FARMiCiA.
