Who doesn’t love the greasy goodness of melty cheese and hot, fresh off the grill meat, packed into a long roll? Especially if you’ve already had a few drinks! You can find Philadelphia’s most famous food just about anywhere, you can even go to one of the famous four or your local spot, but what happens if you don’t eat meat?
I too was dubious about a vegetarian cheesesteak, and even more dubious about the vegan cheesesteak, for that matter. I’m mainly a carnivore but I’m always impressed when a vegetarian restaurant gets creative and goes that extra mile for my taste buds. Behold the vegetarian cheesesteak at Govinda’s!
Somehow they got lovely brown bread, cheese or vegan “cheese” and satay and created a wonderful appropriately sized cheesesteak! Head on down to Broad and South where the awesome cooks at Govindas can grill you up a fresh one!
