When you think of Philadelphia, you think of Rocky and cheesesteaks. Anyone who visits Philly always wants to run the Rocky steps and get a cheesesteak. Most people venture to the Italian Market to the cheesesteak places that it seems everyone has heard of, Pat’s and Gino’s. With every well known food in every city, everyone has their favorites. It always seems like a couple become well known, even though it might not be the best place. When I have people visiting me and they ask where to get a cheesesteak, I will tell them about the tourist places, but I try to push them to the place the locals go.
Jim’s Steaks is the place you will find the locals lined up around the block. A traditional cheesesteak is served with cheese wiz and really, you shouldn’t have it any other way. Jim’s doesn’t skimp on the steak and cheese like the other favorites around the city. The employees are friendly also without making you feel stupid because you don’t know how to order a cheesesteak. It’s wiz with or wiz without, by the way. Jim’s is cash only so hit the ATM before you wait through the long line.
