A zany experience awaits me every time I venture to Little Baby’s Ice Cream. Bright colors and funky shapes greet the eyes as the interior appears to be a cross between Pee-wee’s Playhouse and “The Max” from Saved By The Bell. On top of being one of the wackiest looking places in Philadelphia, the space is shared with Pizza Brain, a great pizzeria that doubles as the world’s largest collection of pizza memorabilia.
The ice cream is as bizarre and unconventional as the space. Earl Grey Sriracha, Everything Bagel, Sour Cherry Honey, Blackberry Sage, and Pizza, make up just a few of the rotating and seasonal flavors. Non-dairy is an option as well with choices such as Balsamic Banana, Lime Toasted Coconut, and Chocolate Salt Malt.
Little Baby’s also collaborates with other local restaurants on new flavors. I was excited to try an ice cream based off my favorite donut and fried chicken shop, Federal Donuts (check the Federal Donuts article). The flavor, Grapefruit Brulee Donut, had chunks of the donut, and was incredible.
Little Baby’s Ice Cream also has 3 other locations in Philadelphia, along with a fleet of ice cream tricycles at various locations throughout the city. Pints are also for sale at many local retailers.
