Over the last decade, Philadelphia has taken pizza from its traditional small take-out shops and turned it into a delicacy found in many of its top restaurants. It was only a matter of time before someone created a homage to the Philly pizza experience. Pizza Brain located in the Fishtown section of the city has all the walls of its shop dedicated to everything pizza. Pizza records, toys, books, collectibles and even advertising are there to behold. It has even been designated by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest collection of pizza-related items.
It would also be tough to house a pizza museum and not serve some of the area’s best pizza. Their delicious menu features a large selection of vegan pizza, but for the non-vegan, you can try their award-winning Forbes pie featuring three types of cheeses, mozzarella, fontina, and grana Padano, all topped with freshly sliced pepperoni. Or if you are a white pizza lover like me, try my favorite, the Leonard Bookman pie, Pizza Brain’s version of a white pie with vegetables. For dessert, try their creamy gelato + sorbet.
It is what they describe as “Fuller flavor than ice cream, fewer calories, lower fat.” Probably a good idea after finishing off one or their award-winning pizzas!
