In Beeradelphia, brew pubs are popping up like weeds, sprouting on every gentrifying street or neglected corner. So many options for craft beer. Prohibition Tap Room stands out, tucked into a quiet city stretch between Chinatown and the Northern Liberties.
This is not one of those trendy speakeasies, as its name might imply. Rather, it is a solid American pub with a beer list that runs wide and deep. You’ll find plenty of local pours to choose from, plus some delicious and even esoteric out-of-towners. Pull up a bar stool up to the dark wood bar and talk to your neighbors. Wine and cocktails also available.
The menu tilts toward American classic comfort food, with sandwiches and burgers, mac and cheese, and skinny fries, plus salads and some more original small plates. Classics are yummy, served with the hipster flair you might expect. I enjoy their salads, and their beer-battered green beans are a perennial favorite. My husband goes for the burger.
Toast the overturning of prohibition in the cozy atmosphere of one of my favorite tap rooms. Enjoy happy hour from 5 – 7. Cheers!
