I am obsessed with Taqueria. Here’s a secret: even though I now consider Philly to be home, I was actually born and raised in Southern California… meaning I have a very high standard for any food marketed as south-of-the-border. Let me tell you: Taqueria holds up. The restaurant is a lively and fun explosion of color and fiesta flags, with specials every night to inspire you (think Sangria Sundays, Taco Tuesdays…).
Taqueria is one of those places that your favorite is so good you get it every time. For me, that’s the carnitas and a spicy margarita or three. Because there’s pretty much never a night where I don’t want carnitas, my ideal Taqueria dining experience is going with a group of friends so I can mooch off others’ plates.
Main Street in Manayunk, as you can see by the plethora of Spotted by Locals recommendations, is a fun spot. It’s outside of center city, making it a scenic afternoon trip. Go for eats and drinks, walk along the water, and revel in the small town feel.
