Another upcoming neighborhood in Philadelphia is the Francisville Section. Its renaissance is a result of development spreading north on Broad street from City hall to Temple University. A major catalyst was the opening of The Met, a 1908-restored theater that showcases many top artists like Madonna, Sting and John Legend. Around the Met, several restaurants have popped up to serve the venue as well as the new group of Philadelphians’ moving into the area. One of the better restaurants near the Met is The Greyhound Café.
This is their second location; their original restaurant opened in the Philly suburb of Malvern in 2017. Their menu is a great mix of Tex Mex, Italian and vegan offerings. The last time my wife and I were there, we both chose the chicken burrito, and we weren’t disappointed. They also have brunch on the weekends, along with a strong dessert menu including the chocolate tacos, which are cinnamon chips topped with Belgian Chocolate and fresh fruit. A nice way to finish off the meal.
In addition, The Greyhound Café is about three blocks from the Met, which allowed us to park on the street for free and walk to the concert avoiding the long wait coming out of the nearby parking lots. Prices are reasonable and almost any picky eater should be able to find something to their liking at The Greyhound Café.
