Located near the Temple of Christ’s resurrection, burekdžinica (burek shop) Vukčević is a place with one of the best burek in Podgorica, or even wider, in the entire Balkans!
Here’s a little introduction on what exactly the burek is (in case you don’t know still):
Burek is a dish made with phyllo pastry that is filled with meat or cheese. It is thought to have originated in Central Asia: it was then adopted by the Ottoman Turks who took it with them to the various corners of their military empire.
Burek is an integral part of Slavic cuisine.
Burek comes in a couple of different shapes: triangular (baked in a round tin and then sliced into wedges), coil-shaped (kind of like a sausage) and also cigar-shaped which is the one they prepare in my favourite burek shop! You can eat burek together with yoghurt, just to cool it a little bit, cause usually they’re hot, since they prepare them really fast.
They offer different types of burek, like :
– Burek with meat
– Burek with cheese
– Burek with spinach and cheese
– Burek with potato
– Burek with mushrooms
All their burek costs less than 2 Euros, with yoghurt.
