If I had to choose only one place that represents the old Podgorica, that would definitely be Korzo. Famous for “boza”, a non-alcoholic and refreshing drink made of corn, yeast, sugar and water, with an interior frozen in the past century, this place is still very popular among the citizens of Podgorica.
Although there is a countless number of new cafes and restaurants, Korzo still resists the ravages of time and new trends. Although not as popular as in the past, it looks like the young generations are slowly getting “back to basics”.
Although I like trying different kind of food, I usually go there when I get bored with fancy cakes and want familiar taste which take me back to my childhood. It’s not only boza that makes this place popular — there are different types of cakes and, of course, burek.
What always brings me back here, apart from the tasty food, is the polite staff and their behavior towards customers, which also represents a spirit of good, old times.
