A couple of years a friend from Romania, who was doing Erasmus in Porto, asked me: “What’s your favorite spot in Porto?”. I realized I’d never thought about that before. It took me a while to give him an answer but, surprisingly, he was very quick to tell me about his favorite place: Moustache.
It’s a coffee shop, you’ve been to many of those. Only it’s not like the others. There’s a Portuguese quality to it that makes it special: it’s extremely welcoming. It makes you want to stay.
Take your time. Read a book (they have nice ones there), chat with friends, do whatever. But stay for a while and enjoy the atmosphere.
There’s a cozy room in the back and a very nice space upstairs, with a balcony looking out to the beautiful Praça Carlos Alberto. I’d say: go upstairs. Enjoy a good coffee (and by good I mean, good – we take our coffee very seriously), indulge in yummy hot drinks, smoothies and delicious cakes.
From Thursday to Friday, Moustache is open till 02:00 and by night it becomes more of a bar. And a nice one at that.
Take my advice: go in, look at all the lovely pastries, soak in the scent of coffee, try the irresistible Peach Smoothie and feel the inviting vibe. I dare you to leave without experiencing Moustache!
