I’m a girl from Albertov. It’s one of my favourite neighborhoods in Prague, not just because it’s quiet, but because the views, buildings & forgotten parks are just amazing — just as old & unique as the city itself. If you want to know more about this part, the best way is to go from I. P. Pavlova or Náměstí Míru Metro stations and start the tour at Apolinářská street.
Yeah, that’s right, this first complex of buildings (pictured) looks almost like from a Harry Potter movie but actually it’s the most famous maternity hospital in Prague – yeap, this is how our kids starts their lives. Pretty nice place, don’t you think?
Look around and continue walking down the street – before you pass the church, turn left at the second street (unfortunately all the streets there are named the same, “Viničná”) – it might look like you’re about to invade someone’s privacy, but don’t be afraid. Follow it a bit longer, and there’s one of the most beautiful views in Prague, and I bet almost no-one is there (that’s the case usually). Just benches, you & the sunset over old buildings.
Then, walk down the stairs and go through Studničkova street towards Albertov street- you are just going through the beautiful empty complex of the buildings of Charles University. Finish on Na Slupi street or go little bit farther to the river for a beer or two to our famous “Náplavka”.
