The thousands of photos of Prague out there make it easy to know the city. The good news is that the city still has uncountable spots to explore from the inside. Galerie Malostranská Beseda (Art Gallery Malostranská Beseda) is a perfect choice to hide yourself from the crowded surroundings in a quiet place and to see the Malostranské náměstí (Malostranské square) from a bird’s eye perspective, with dozens of people doing their thing.
Malostranská Beseda is an established cultural center. There is a favorite restaurant, a coffee shop, a music club, a theater and also a gallery. Just walk in, go up the stairs and you will get to a wooden renaissance attic with a cozy atmosphere. It is possible that you’ll be the only visitor at that given moment. I guess not many people know about this spot, not even my friends who were born in Prague. The lower floors are without doubt one of the best known in the city within the Czechs.
Don’t forget to look through the window at the top of the building. It should be the second reason to visit the art gallery and appreciate it. The view of Prague’s castle and the panorama of the Malá Strana district are one-of-a-kind. Galerie Malostranská Beseda presents artists from the young and middle generation. Once a year, an exhibition is dedicated to children.
I like the fact that the existence of the art gallery is not obvious.
