Kafemat is a miniature cafe – or rather, an espresso bar in Dejvice, where in my opinion they make the best coffee in Prague 6. I am a native and lifetime resident of this Prague neighborhood and FINALLY I have a place where I can start my day with a delicious cup of cappuccino-to-go and a slice of cake for breakfast! In command is the experienced barista and coffee enthusiast Petr Hrabánek, whom you will probably meet if you pay a visit to this coffee shop.
It is always nice to meet him and talk about the coffee scene in Prague while he is preparing the coffee. The interior is dominated by stylish retro red lights and, above all, a giant machine, reminiscent of the Danish style of espresso bars. Currently, it is not possible to sit down here due to our nonsense Czech laws (which prohibit stores without restrooms to provide seating).
But despite this inconvenience, you can sit in the large window. What makes the shop cozier is a workbench which serves as a shelf for sugar and flowerpots. They offer coffee from Czech roastery doubleshot as well as coffee from foreign roasteries such as Danish Collective Coffee or the Berlin based The Barn. So if you are in this area and you love coffee, Kafemat is definitely a must-visit stop!
(news: Now they serve also coffee from a porcelain cup!:))
