In Prague, Ambiente has a pretty good name because they’re one of those companies that are able to mix together excellent Czech food from Czech farmers, always superb beer and always-smiling, nice & helpful staff, which is unfortunately something that Czechs are still not good at since communism.
Me myself I’m quite touchy about the super popular bullshit area around Prague castle, which reminds me of an open-air museum made just for visitors – so I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped into Ambiente’s new concept named “Kuchyně” (meaning “Kitchen”) just a few steps from there. Just across the entrance secured by two castle guards, you can find beautiful Salmovský palace built in classicist style. It is the home of the National Gallery as well as this fresh spot for all good food lovers.
Wait till you’re seated or book a place on their website. You don’t want to miss the occasion, believe me! Have a big Pilsner and order an appetizer from the daily menu and then follow your waiter to the kitchen to pick what you like the most straight from the pot. You can choose whatever you want from circa 6 main dishes, they’ll all be fantastic. At the end, have a shot of Slivovice (plum) or Hruškovice (pear brandy) and enjoy the satisfied feeling in your belly and, if seated at the beer garden, also the amazing view over the old good Prague lying bellow you like on the palm of your hand!
