If you ever heard about David Černý and became interested in this controversial artist/entrepreneur, you should visit his new project – Musoleum. There you can find a collection of everything spanning from his minuscule creations up to monumental projects for everyone’s taste – from “family-friendly” to “restricted”. And I mean “very restricted”. I took pictures of children studying very carefully the oversized details of human anatomy.
David Černý became famous very shortly after the “velvet revolution” when he painted in pink the tank/monument to the liberation of Czechoslovakia by the Russian army in 1945. However, when the Russian army “liberated” us again in 1968, this tank became a symbol of typical Russian behavior against smaller neighboring countries. Well, not much has changed since then, as they are showing their true face again in Ukraine.
To visit the former brewery building that was carefully reconstructed to house this collection is definitely worth the trip to Smíchov. The recommended tour starts at the top floor and goes all the way to the cellar where probably the most controversial installation is housed.
