Welcome to one of my favourite activities in Prague: taking a boat on the river. The best way to get to “Sedlec” is to ride a bike, roller skate or skateboard on the cycle route A1 from Stromovka park or take a bus 340 or 350 to “Sedlecký přívoz”.
Then – wait for it – the boat is coming. It’s all shiny, with a sailor (no kidding) = man in striped t-shirt with a typical hat & all this beauty is included in the public transport system, so you’ll buy a standard ticket for 24 Kč for each route and person. You can also use your card, if you have one (a 24-hour one, for example). Just don’t expect a long ride, you’re going just to the other side, so all together it takes about 5 minutes. But the experience’s totally worth it.
After arriving to station “Zámky”, except in winter, you can have a beer from an artisan brewery in nearby bistro “V ohbí řeky” (“At the edge of the river”) or refresh yourself with home-made lemonades or snack made using goods by local farmers. It’s a really nice, simple place under the trees.
Don’t be afraid of all that barking you can hear in the neighborhood, it’s just a local animal shelter about 200m away.
Then you can walk a little farther up the hill to the viewing point near the local softball club or continue roller skating, biking or just walking around the river to Troja or take another boat at “Podhoří” to “V Podbabě”.
