Are you reading me, Asian food lovers? If so, let me tell you about this hidden spot we have in Prishtina. We call this fantastic restaurant Himalayan in short. It is at a very bizarre place, as it is in an old abandoned shopping mall (Qafa Mall) on the UCK Street in the center. When I first went there by myself, I wasn’t sure if I was at the right place after seeing that gloomy, quiet floor of the mall. Having the guts, I entered and encountered a very warm and friendly welcome. The waitress (with a big smile) recommended me to try their Mattar Paneer (peas and mushrooms in masala sauce) and Vegetable Bifiyani (rice cooked with fresh vegetables) and I’ve gotten addicted to their food since then. Nowadays, Dal Tarka (lentils cooked with herbs and spices) and Chana Masala (chickpeas in masala sauce) are my favorite dishes. I mostly visit Himalayan if I feel like having a huge, delicious feast.
It has a very simple and warm interior. The menu is quite rich with home-made naan breads, rice dishes, chicken and mutton dishes, vegetable paradise, and some Chinese specialties. They serve draft beers (€1.5 – €2), wines (€2.5 for a glass) and hard and soft drinks. I often see both locals and international people in groups or as couples enjoying the food there.
