I always say I like cities with rivers, even a stream or lake or even better if they’re near the sea. That was the only part I though that Prishtina was lacking. However, I found out about this lake later. This artificial lake of Badovc is actually the main source of water for the district of Prishtina. As it has this amazing picturesque environment, it has become my favorite spot for a quick escape from the city. There is a restaurant where I like having a coffee or sometimes wine while enjoying the view. Be aware that there might be weddings at the restaurant from time to time or brides and grooms just coming to take sunset photos. I think the sunset is the best time to go there.
It is a 20-minute drive or 30 minutes by Gjilan buses for 1€. Cycling there with a rented bike is also a more environmentally friendly option. Many locals go there for fishing or picnic in the spring and summer. The famous Bear Sanctuary of Kosovo where they keep the 19 brown bears that they saved from the restaurants in 2010 is also nearby. For a full day of nature, I like visiting both. On the way back, I often stop by Gracanica, a nice Serbian town, for a meal.
