Zanzi Jazz Bar has existed since the beginning of time. I believe it is the oldest entertainment venue in Prishtina, and it has never changed its location. It has always been in the city centre.
It is a relatively small place, so is always packed after 23:00, and the party goes on until sunrise. There are always live performances by different artists, and contrary to the name, there isn’t that much jazz played, but mostly it is good music, and if the music is good, you dance.
I think there is no greater feeling in the world than moving to the music and letting the rest of the world disappear. So as Wayne Dyer said: “when you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor; it’s to enjoy each step along the way.”
The walls of Zanzi Jazz Bar are decorated with pictures of great musicians such as Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Prince… and the picture that has always intrigued me is the one of Mohamed Ali. It is interesting because I don’t follow the logic there; anyhow, he was cool.
The bottom line: Zanzi Jaz Bar is one of my favorite places and the first place that comes to mind when asked “where should we go to dance?”
